Lancaster Stormers News Release
The Lancaster Barnstormers got a quality start by Dominic DiSabatino and four home runs on Friday night to defeat the West Virginia Power, 8-3, in the first home game for Lancaster in two weeks.
DiSabatino (2-3) worked six innings, allowing four hits and three runs. The right-hander walked five and struck out four in delivering his first quality start of the season.
His start enabled manager Ross Peeples to use three relievers, Jordan McCrum, Gabriel Moya and Garrett Granitz for a scoreless inning apiece.
Caleb Gindl launched the first pitch from Clinton Hollon (0-1) out of the yard to right center, the third time in four days he has led off the game with a homer. Melvin Mercedes followed with a double to right center and scored on a later single to center by Trayvon Robinson for a 2-0 lead.
DiSabatino gave up a run in the third on a Scott Kelly single and got out of further trouble when Edwin Espinal grounded into a bases loaded double play.
After Blake Gailen extended the lead back to two with a solo shot in the bottom of the third, the Power managed to tie the game in the top of the fourth. Teodoro Martinez doubled home Jose Tabata with a fly ball off the right field wall. Yovan Gonzalez grounded out to get Rymer Liriano across with the tying tally.
Lancaster immediately grabbed the lead back. Kelly Dugan opened the home fourth with a single and was forced at second by Blake Allemand. A two-out wild pitch sent Allemand to second. Anthony Peroni took advantage of the opportunity, lining a single up the middle for the 4-3 lead.
LeDarious Clark and Trayvon Robinson added two-run homers later in the game as the Barnstormers pulled away.
The second game of the series comes up Saturday evening at 6:30. Fireworks will follow. Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, starting at 6:25.
NOTES: Gindl has homered in five consecutive games, one shy of the club record held by Ryan Harvey...Robinson became the sixth Barnstormer this season to reach 15 RBI on the year...The game was the shortest nine-inning game of the year at 2:55...
