Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Serna today was named to the United States Under-20 National Team roster for the French tournament Tournoi Espoirs de Toulon in Toulon, France. The U.S. will play in four matches between May 28 and June 8, as they prepare for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup to take place later this summer in Turkey.
"It's a great honor for Dillon to be called up to the team so regularly, especially as the U-20 World Cup approaches," said Senior Director of Youth Development Brian Crookham. "This kind of tournament and training is valuable for his development as a young player in an older group, and the Colorado Rapids are extremely proud of his accomplishments thus far."
Serna, a Colorado Rapids Homegrown Player from Brighton, Colo, was recently called up by U-20 head coach Tab Ramos for a training camp in California from April 22-29 where he scored in the 6-2 victory over Cal FC on April 28. Serna is one of 13 players that helped the United States take second place at the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Puebla, Mexico, and one of 18 with ties to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy on the 22-man roster. This is Serna's fourth call-up to the U.S. U-20 squad, having earned his first summons last summer for the Northern Ireland Milk Cup.
