Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas trailed 5-1 and 10-5 to the San Angelo Colts in game one of their doubleheader, and were able to comeback both times for an 11-10 win. The comeback in game two fell a little short as the Colts escaped with a 6-5 win at the Amarillo National Dilla Villa in front of 2,854 fans.

In game one, the Dillas could only put one run on the board through six innings, that one run coming off a Trent Lockwood solo homerun. They trailed 5-1 in the seventh, but a two-run double by Keanon Simon and an RBI double by Andrew Wong brought the deficit to only one. After a Carlos Figueroa walk put two runners on, Terrance McClain singled to left field to score Wong for a 5-5 tie game.

San Angelo would break through in the top of the eighth with five runs off three hits and an error for a five-run lead. Amarillo would not stop though, as three straight hits to load the bases. Simon singled to bring home Eric Brown, Wong walked to score another run, and Figueroa grounded out to score Willie James and put two runners in scoring position. McClain stepped up and ripped a triple to right field to score both runners to tie the game. After a pair of walks loaded the bases and a fielder's choice kept the bases loaded, Wenger sent a single up the middle to score the winning run and an 11-10 comeback win.

In game two, San Angelo scored six runs in the first two innings, to again take a big lead. The Dillas would chip away with a run in the third, scoring on an error. In the fourth, Amarillo would score three runs, one on a bases loaded balk, a double play and a pass ball for a two-run deficit. The Dillas scored another run in the sixth as Lockwood scored on a double steal to bring the score to 6-5.

The Dillas would put a runner at third with two outs in the seventh with Lockwood at the plate. He sent a ball screaming to first, but the Colts' Josh Collazo dove and threw to a covering Chase Vacek to stop the Dillas rally and give the Colts a 6-5 win.

With the win and the loss, the Dillas go to 25-23, while the Colts go to 34-14. Friday, Amarillo will travel to Rio Grande Valley to face the Whitewings for the opening game of a four-game series at 7:05pm. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
