Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced this morning that they have forged a partnership with Bikers Against Child Abuse to stimulate knowledge and awareness of their purpose served across the nation in regards to the protection of children. As the Dillas head down the pennant race stretch they welcome the Coastal Bend Thunder on Saturday to begin a crucial eight-game series but more importantly, the home stand will kick-off with a greater cause.

Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner; however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle.

"Baseball is the vehicle that brings everyone together at the Dilla Villa but our (Dillas) involvement in the community has been our focus and will remain a priority" Dillas General Manager Mark Lee said. "We are both proud and honored to open the gates to the stadium to help BACA raise awareness about child abuse".

The events of the evening will include an on-field presentation of both the United States and the Texas State flags by members of the Bikers Against Child Abuse. In addition, Saturday's game is the final game for local residents receiving unemployment benefits to get free General Admission tickets.

The Dillas continue their eight-game road trip tonight with game three of the four-game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners. After sweeping the four-game set from the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings the Dillas have dropped the first two games against Edinburg.
