San Angelo Colts News Release

Amarillo, TX---Unlike the night before the Colts would get out quickly and have two leads, but let game two of the series get away late. Amarillo would score in the eighth to pull out the win by a final score of 8-6, as the Colts dropped the first two games of their four game series with the Dillas.

The Colts came out of the gates quickly getting three in the top of the first on an Ronnie Gaines RBI single and a Jason Crosland (15) two-run homer, that pulled him back in to a tie for the league lead in homeruns, and it was a 3-0 San Angelo lead. The Dillas evened it quick, scoring three of their own in the bottom of the first, two on a Joaquin Rodriguez (3) two-run homer and an Isaac Garcia error in left that allowed Andrew Wong to score. The error negated a great play by Ronnie Gaines who just gunned down Stephen Douglas at the plate and it was 3-3.

The Colts would take back the lead in the third on an RBI single by Landon Camp, who drove in his thirteen run in the last five games, and it was 4-3 San Angelo. The Colts would add another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Ronnie Gaines, his second RBI of the game, and where up 5-3. In the bottom of the inning the Dillas scored a run on an RBI double by Sam Palace to make it 5-4 after four. It was in the sixth that Amarillo would take the first lead of the game on a two-run homer by Alberto Cruz (12) to make it 6-5 Dillas.

San Angelo would tie it in the top of the eighth on a Butch Ballez RBI double and it was 6-6. The Colts gave it right back though as Amarillo scored two in the bottom of the eighth on a bases loaded RBI single by Rob Recuenco against Colts southpaw Logan Williamson to take an 8-6 lead. Amarillo closer Ramon Geronimo came on in the ninth to get his league leading fourteenth save by striking out the side in order as the Dillas win by that same final.

On Wednesday the Colts take on Amarillo in game three of this four game series. San Angelo will send righty Bryan Heaston (2-1, 4.87) against southpaw Ronald Lowe (5-2, 3.39 ERA) for the Dillas who is second in the ULB in wins and ERA and third in strikeouts. It all begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 with the first pitch set for 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
