El Paso Diablos News Release
EL PASO, TX- The El Paso Diablos entered Tuesday's game with the highest team batting average in the league, and did not disappoint the 4,000 plus fans in attendance at Cohen Stadium, pounding out 17 hits in a 16-8 victory over the Grand Prairie Airhogs.
Welington Dotel and Jordan Marks each had four hit nights, and Dotel drove in four runs for the Diablos, who moved to within eight and a half games and the AirHogs in the South Division.
El Paso had innings of four, four and five runs to pace their offensive attack, which was helped by five Grand Prairie errors, four by the left side of the AirHogs infield. The combination of
David Casillas (3-0) earned his third win with six and a third innings of work, allowing five runs but striking out three. Four relievers allowed just three runs for El Paso, which finished the month of July with an 18-8 record.
The Diablos season high 5-game winning streak will be put to the test Wednesday in game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (MST).
