Lincoln 3, Laredo 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

Trailing, 1-0, in the fourth inning of Game 1 against Laredo on Tuesday, the Saltdogs used about every trick in the book to push across three runs in the frame. Lincoln put runners on base via a single, a walk, a hit batsman and a double, earning the home team a 3-1 win. The first run of the frame came on an RBI double by 1B John Alonso. Alonso went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. The Lemurs outhit Lincoln, 4-3, but the timely at-bats for the Saltdogs proved to be the difference. Starting Lincoln pitcher Thomas Palica earned the win, throwing six innings and allowed only one run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Laredo 6, Lincoln 1 (10 innings)

Someone must have forgotten to tell the Lemurs and Saltdogs that Game 2 was scheduled for seven innings, as well. Laredo and Lincoln fought well into extra innings before the Lemurs pounced in the 10th inning and defeating the Saltdogs, 6-1. Lemurs DH John Allen drove in the first three runs with a two-out double to give his team a 4-1 lead. It turns out that is all the Lemurs needed. They still added another two runs for good measure. Both starting pitchers threw well, but neither factored in the decision. Laredo reliever Edwin Walker took the mound in the seventh for the Lemurs, tossing the final three innings and allowing only two hits with two strikeouts to pick up the win.

St. Paul 4, Fargo-Moorhead 0

St. Paul starting pitcher Robert Coe dazzled fans tuesday night, allowing only two hits while striking out six Fargo-Moorhead batters in eight innings of work, leading his club to a 4-0 victory over the RedHawks. Coe lowered his ERA to 3.30 and brought his season record to 9-3. The Saints didn't have a big inning, but rather four little ones, putting a single run on the board in the second, third, sixth and seventh frames. The top two men in the St. Paul lineup had identical nights at the plate, as leadoff CF Jim Rapoport and DH Joe Spiers each went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Both men are batting .300 or better on the year, with Rapoport coming in at .312. The RedHawks did manage to get on base several times against Coe, drawing seven walks. LF Jon Gaston drew two of those free passes while going 2-for-4 and raising his season average to .314.

Sioux Falls 6, Quebec 3

The Pheasants jumped on top, 3-0, in the first inning and never trailed en route to a 6-3 victory over Quebec. Sioux Falls 1B Cesar Nicolas hit a two-run double in the opening frame, accounting for half of his game-high four RBI. Nicolas went 3-for-4, joining teammate Reggie Abercrombie and Quebec C Patrick D'Aoust for the game high in hits. The Capitales threatened in the top of the ninth, rallying from a 6-1 deficit and scoring two runs. But Pheasants reliever Alan DeRatt closed the door with a game-ending strikeout of Quebec CF Seabastien Boucher. DeRatt struck out two of the three batters he faced, allowing one hit in 0.2 innings of work.

Wichita 10, Amarillo 5

Wingnuts CF Mike Conroy went 4-for-6 and fell a home run short of the cycle against Amarillo, powering Wichita past the sox, 10-5. Conroy drove in two runs and scored two of his own, tying for the team- and game-high in both categories. The Wingnuts led, 10-1, heading into the bottom of the ninth. But five straight hits to open the frame for the Sox led to four runs and what appeared to be a real threat to the Wichita victory. But Wingnuts reliever Edgar R. Martinez came in and retired all three batters he faced to seal the win for the visitors. Amarillo 1B Tim Alberts doubled in the ninth, his second hit of the game to lead the way for the Sox. Alberts also scored a run in the final inning.

Winnipeg 4, Kansas City 1

Goldeyes starting pitcher Andrew Walker pitched into the ninth inning, striking out seven T-Bones batters and earning a 4-1 victory for Winnipeg. Walker threw 8.1 innings of one-run baseball, allowing six hits on the evening. With Walker dominating on the mound, the Winnipeg offense slowly built up a lead, scoring three runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Goldeyes 3B Amos Ramon got the scoring started with an inning-opening home run in the fifth, one of his two hits. Ramon drove in two Winnipeg runs and is now batting .287 on the year. T-Bones C Trevor Coleman drove in his team's lone run on a sixth-inning double that plated DH Lee Cruz. It was Coleman's only hit of the game.

Sioux City 6, Gary SouthShore 4 (11 innings)

The Explorers had a flare for the dramatic against Gary SouthShore on Tuesday. Trailing, 4-2, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Sioux City tied the score. And two frames later, the home team put another two runs on the board in the form of an Adrian Martinez walkoff home run. Martinez had already scored a run but was hitless until the decisive four-bagger. Gary SouthShore had not trailed until the walkoff blast, taking a 2-0 lead in the fourth and continuing to maintain its distance from the Explorers. But Sioux City just wouldn't go away, setting the stage for Martinez' heroics in the 11th.

El Paso 16, Grand Prairie 8

The AirHogs led - albeit briefly - 1-0 in the top of the first inning against El Paso. That's when the Diablos took over at the plate. The home team tied the score in the bottom of the first, then another four in the third, and for good measure another four in the fourth. In the end, the teams combined for 30 hits as El Paso doubled up Grand Prairie, 16-8. Diablos leadoff SS Maikol Gonzalez hit his fourth homer of the year, going 3-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. But Gonzalez' three hits - a feat also accomplished by AirHogs CF Keanon Simon - were not a game high. The Diablos got four hits from both Jordan Marks and Welington Dotel, with Marks scoring four times and Dotel pushing across four of his own.
