
Diablos win series finale 7-3

Mike Cervera threw five innings allowing just one run as the El Paso Diablos downed the Fort Worth Cats 7-3 in the series finale from Cohen Stadium on Sunday night.
El Paso scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second. Juan Camacho led off the frame with a bloop single to left. Walter Olmstead then walked putting two runners aboard. Jordan Belcher sacrificed the duo over to second and third. Evan Conley then came to the plate and grounded a single through the right side. Juan Camacho scored on the hit but Walter Olmstead was thrown out at the plate by Carlos Adolfo the right fielder. The Diablos took the 1-0 lead into the top of the third.
Fort Worth would plate one run in the top of the fourth. Jordan Foster poked a sacrifice fly to right to score Bryant Beaver.
El Paso pulled away with a three-run fifth inning. Kory Drew had an RBI double to get the offense rolling. Jorge Alvarez would later add a two-run homer for the 4-1 Diablos lead.
Fort Worth would score two more runs along the way. The Cats scratched one across in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Dallas Christoson. In the eighth inning, Chuck Carter had a run-scoring single off of Andy Torres.
The Diablos extended their lead with a two run seventh. Logan Wood picked up his 10th home run of the year, on a solo shot. Kory Drew picked up his second RBI of the night with a single. El Paso would score the final run in the bottom of the eighth on a Jorge Alvarez RBI single.
Mike Cervera (1-1) picks up the victory, as he threw five full allowing one earned run off of three hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Beau Hintz (0-1) gets the loss, he threw five full allowing four earned runs off of five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Garvis Romero and Ned Darley each threw a scoreless inning of relief.
The Diablos will take three days off for the All-Star break. El Paso will resume play this Thursday night at 7:05 PM, as they open up a four-game series with the Coastal Bend Aviators at Cohen Stadium. Andy Torres is scheduled to pitch for the Diablos.
