
Cats win their second straight

The Fort Worth Cats out slugged the El Paso Diablos 10-4 on Saturday night from Cohen Stadium.
Fort Worth scored the first run of the night in the opening frame. Marc Mirizzi drew a two-out walk from Greg Wiltshire. Carlos Adolfo then singled, which moved Mirizzi to second. Chuck Carter doubled down the left field line which plated Mirizzi for the 1-0 advantage.
El Paso tied up the contest in the bottom of the fourth. Kory Drew led off the frame with his second triple in two games. Jorge Alvarez then blasted a double to deep right center which scored Drew for the tie.
The Cats had an explosive top of the seventh inning. Dallas Christoson had a two-run single to score Alan Moye and Kelly Gulledge. Marc Mirizzi also had a two-run single as the Cats took the commanding 6-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh.
The Diablos got right back into the game in the bottom of the seventh. El Paso teed off Juan Figueroa. Kory Drew had an RBI single and Jorge Alvarez picked up a two-run double as the Diablos got within two runs, trailing 6-4 into the eighth.
The Cats had a big ninth inning to put the game out of reach. Marc Mirizzi started the two-out rally with a walk. Julio Frietes would walk three in the inning, and gave up four runs off of two hits. Fort Worth took the 10-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
Corey Walters and Aaron Marsden combined to throw the final two innings and held El Paso scoreless.
Nick Martin (3-4) earns the victory as he lasted six innings allowing one run off of six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Greg Wiltshire (8-4) takes the defeat as he threw six and a third innings surrendering four runs off of six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
The Diablos will close out the series with Fort Worth on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 PM. Mike Cervera will face off against Beau Hintz in the contest. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
