St. Paul 4, Shreveport 3 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

St. Paul tacked a single run onto a 3-3 tie game in the top of the seventh inning to snag the first game of a doubleheader against Shreveport. The go-ahead run came courtesy of a 1B Marcel Longmire double, which scored RF Adam Bourassa from first base. Longmire finished 2-for-4 with two of the team's four RBI and two doubles. St. Paul jumped on top of Shreveport early with three runs in the top of the first inning, and the game stayed at 3-0 for four innings. In the bottom of the fifth, Shreveport responded with three of their own runs, knotting the score until the decisive seventh inning. Relief pitcher Jon Huizinga pitched the sixth inning for the win and closer Tony Pierce pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save.

St. Paul 7, Shreveport 4 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

St. Paul again burst for some early runs, and in the second game of the doubleheader they scored too many to catch in a 7-4 victory against Shreveport. St. Paul got seven runs in the first three innings, and that's all they would need for the game. C Marcel Longmire again drove in two runs to lead St. Paul. Shreveport got three runs in the first three innings, but despite finishing with the same amount of hits as St. Paul (seven), the Sports couldn't make up the deficit. Relief pitcher Matt Clayman proved to be a bright spot for Shreveport. He pitched the last four and one-third innings and held St. Paul hitless, only allowing two walks and no runs. Byron Embry threw two solid relief innings for St. Paul, allowing only one hit and fanning three.

Pensacola at Coastal Bend (Postponed - Rain)

@ Robstown, TX.

This game was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7th. Both games will be seven innings.

Sioux City 11, St. Joe 6

Sioux City ripped the ball early and often to keep up their torrid play and thump St. Joe 11-6. The Explorers got on the board right away in the first inning with three runs, then added two in the fourth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh. They finished with 11 hits, at least one each by the top seven batters in their lineup. Sioux City is now 11-2 in the second half, sitting high atop the North Division standings. St. Joe ripped 12 hits of their own, including three each by DH Jake Whitesides and OF Curt Miaso, but left ten men on base for the game. The teams combined to use ten pitchers in the game and something in the Sioux City air must've caused the ball to jump around as the pitchers combined for seven wild pitches on the evening. Joel Schmal got the win for Sioux City as he finished the sixth inning and started the seventh.

El Paso 7, Fort Worth 3

A three-run fifth inning, a big night from LF Jorge Alvarez and solid pitching from started Michael Cervera gave El Paso a 7-3 win against Fort Worth. Alvarez hit a two-run home run in the fifth and added another RBI on a single later in the game to finish 2-for-5 with three runs driven in. Cervera went five innings, allowing only one run on three hits. He walked three and struck out two to pick up his first win of the season. Garvis Romero and Ned Darley each threw a scoreless inning of relief to back Cervera.

Sioux Falls 12, Lincoln 5

The Sioux Falls bats were on fire up and down the lineup as the Canaries exploded for a seven-run third inning en route to a 12-5 victory against Lincoln. Sioux Falls ripped 17 hits on the night, including three each from C Tim Marks and SS Orlando Miller, and two each from each of the top five hitters in the lineup. Miller was the star, driving in five runs thanks in part to a two-run longball in the third inning. Sioux Falls went to bat 12 times in the third and ripped seven hits in the inning for their seven runs. Sioux Falls starting pitcher Micah Posey pitched six innings, allowing eight hits and four runs, for the victory.
