El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- After a rough start in a three game series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks losing 12-3 last night, the Diablos came back with a convincing win, thanks to clutch hits and an electrifying crowd to tie the series at 1-1 on Kids Day!

The First four innings were dominated by great pitching from both teams, starting pitcher David Casillas had a strong showing after his recent struggles against the Amarillo Sox. Casillas went 6.1 innings, throwing 100 pitches, with seven strike outs, and only gave up three runs to keep the Diablos within reach.

Once the Redhawks moved up 3-1, after the fourth inning, the Diablos offense started to click, scoring seven runs in the next four innings. It all started with an Oscar Mesa RBI in the fifth, then great base running by Maikol Gonzalez to score on a RedHawks fielding mishap on center fielder Mitch Einerston at bat.

The Diablos weren't finished though designated hitter Victor Ferrante secured the win with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the Diablos up 6-3, which was followed by a two RBI triple from third baseman Edgar Corcino, which resulted in the final score of 8-3. It was great play all around from the Diablos today, giving up a season low three runs, to go along with no errors, on eighth runs and 12 hits.

The Diablos now move to 2-4 on the season, with one more game in a three game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks tomorrow night, 7:05 at Cohen Stadium.
