
Lemurs Win Fifth Straight

LAREDO, TX - The Laredo Lemurs score the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs 6-5 as they go on to win their fifth straight to open the season.
With the Lemurs up 5-2 going into the ninth, Fabian Williamson came out of the bullpen to try close out the game and earn his first save of the year. Instead, Williamson gave up a two run home run to Juan Richardson and a solo home run to Angel Flores that tied the game at five.
After Williamson retired the side, the Lemurs came to the plate and with one out Marcos Rodriguez doubled down the left field line. Garrett Rau would bat next and reach on an error on a sharply hit ball that got under the glove of Juan Richardson at third base. On the play Rodriquez moved up to third with Rau at first. The next batter Jack Opitz was intentionally walked to load the bases. With two out in the inning Sawyer Carroll would put the ball in play up the middle, the second baseman Brandon Pinckney had the ball roll just out of his reach allowing Rodriguez to score from third to give the Lemurs the walk off win.
Although Fabian Williamson gave up the two home runs in the top of the ninth, he earns the win. The loss goes to David Quinoski who allowed the Marcos Rodriguez double.
John Allen hit his second home run of the season a two run blast to left field in the third. Allen ended the day two for three with two runs scored, and two RBI's. Sawyer Carroll who picked up the game winning hit went two for four with a run, and two RBI's
All game times at home will be at 7:30pm with the exception of Wednesday, May 22nd at 10:00am and the game on Sunday, June 2nd which will start at 3:16pm.
