
Diablos Roll Past Aviators, 6-1

Josh Neitz threw seven innings allowing no earned runs as the Diablos dominated the Coastal Bend Aviators 6-1 on Thursday night from Cohen Stadium.
The Diablos struck first in the bottom of the first inning. With one out and runners on first and second, Juan Camacho bounced a ball up the middle which the shortstop Lofton fielded but the second base man Will Lewis dropped the throw, allowing Machado to score from second. Walter Olmstead would also pick up an RBI single in the frame to give El Paso a 2-0 lead.
The Aviators got within a run in the top of the second. Matt Spencer picked up an RBI double to cut the deficit to 2-1.
El Paso stretched out the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Jorge Alvarez had an RBI single and Juan Camacho had an RBI double in the frame. The Diablos added an extra run of insurance in the bottom of the eighth on an Evan Conley single, which plated Logan Wood from third.
Josh Neitz (5-3) picks up the victory, as he threw seven innings allowing no earned runs off of seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Derrick Van Dusen (5-5) takes the loss, he lasted seven innings allowing four earned runs off of nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Garvis Romero threw two scoreless innings of relief for El Paso.
Jorge Alvarez finishes the night 3-5 with an RBI. Juan Camacho went 2-4 with an RBI.
Coastal Bend has now scored just four runs in their last six games.
The Diablos will take on Coastal Bend in game two of the series on Friday night at 7:05 PM. Andy Torres will throw against T.J Hendricks of the Aviators. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
