Fort Worth 6, Pensacola 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

In game one of the doubleheader, Pensacola took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the first inning by SS Ricardo Cordova. But the Cats would not trail for long. After scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning, the Cats scored three runs to stretch their lead to 5-1 in the third. Fort Worth was led offensively by CF Alan Moye, who hit his fifth home run of the season to highlight a 2-for-3 night, knocking in three runs and scoring twice. Starting Cats pitcher Lee Gwaltney got his third win of the season with a seven inning performance in which he allowed one run on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Fort Worth never trailed Pensacola in game two. Other than that, the two games of Thursday's doubleheader were nearly identical. Fort Worth got another solid complete-game effort from its starting pitcher, this time Aaron Marsden, who allowed one run on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. The Cats also did the bulk of their scoring in the third inning of game two, getting four runs in the frame. The Cats sent 26 batters to the plate in six innings, one fewer than game one's 27. With the sweep, Fort Worth remains atop the South Division at 9-3.

St. Paul 5, Sioux City 0

The Saints got a strong seven-inning performance from starting pitcher Adam Brandenburg, who allowed no runs on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. After three-and-a-half innings of scoreless baseball, Brandenburg got some run support in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Saints scored three runs, two earned, on three hits and an Explorers error. Brandenburg exited the game after seven innings to make way for reliever Byron Embry, who struck out every batter he faced for the final two innings of the game to finish off the Explorers. St. Paul RF Adam Bourassa led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs in the game. With the win, St. Paul is now tied with Sioux City atop the North Division standings with a record of 11-4.

Lincoln 2, Sioux Falls 1

Satldogs starting pitcher Dan Reichert had more strikeouts than hits surrendered in a complete-game performance that gave him his sixth win of the season. Reichert allowed one run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. But thanks to solid pitching from Sioux Falls starter Jeff Landing, the game entered the seventh inning in a 1-1 tie. However Sioux Falls reliever Lenny Bays gave up a run in the inning, when a wild pitch allowed Lincoln CF Ross McCoy to score from third and give Lincoln a 2-1 lead. Reichert then proceeded to finish off the Canaries, allowing just one hit in the final three innings.

St. Joe 5, Shreveport 2

St. Joe entered the bottom of the fourth inning locked in a scoreless tie with the Sports, but one home run by St. Joe CF David Fowler later, the Blacksnakes held a 2-0 lead. After five innings, St. Joe led 3-0, but Shreveport scored two runs in the sixth inning on two hits to pull within one run. But that was as close as the Sports would get. The Blacksnakes added a run in both the seventh and eighth innings, making the final score 5-2. St. Joe LF Andy Wilson was the only St. Joe player to connect on more than one hit, going 2-for-4 on the night with two RBI.

El Paso 6, Coastal Bend 1

The Diablos broke on top of Coastal Bend, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Aviators cut the lead in half in the top of the second inning on a run-scoring double by RF Matt Spencer, but would not score any more runs in the game. After all was said and done, the Diablos scored six runs on 11 hits to pick up their eighth win of the second half and pull within two games of South-Division-leading Fort Worth. Diablos DH Jorge Alvarez led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Starting Diablos pitcher Josh Neitz went seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts to pick up his fifth win of the season.
