
Diablos name new field manager

EL PASO-The El Paso Diablos have announced former Eastwood graduate and Major Leaguer Butch Henry as their new field manager. A press conference will be held at 2 pm on Monday, June 26 at Cohen Stadium.
"We're extremely pleased to put our team in the hands of a solid baseball guy like Butch Henry," said Matt LaBranche Diablos General Manager. "Butch's expertise on pitching especially should have an immediate positive impact on our staff."
Henry, a left handed pitcher was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 1987 amateur draft spending 7 years in the Major Leagues before having to retire early due to arm troubles. During his career Henry was 33-33, with a 3.89 ERA while throwing 621 total innings. The left hander had the best year of his career in 1994 with the Montreal Expos going 8-3 with a 2.43 ERA.
"I'm excited to get back on the field as the manager for the Diablos," said Butch Henry Field Manager for the El Paso Diablos. "Being from El Paso it's such an honor. I look forward to making the Diablos a better team this year."
In 2005 Henry was the pitching coach for the Billings Mustangs, the advanced rookie affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds working with some of the top young pitching prospects in their organization.
The El Paso Diablos return home on Tuesday June 27 at 7:05 pm as they start a three game series with the Shreveport Sports. Fans can catch all Diablos games home and away on ESPN 1380 AM. Check Diablos.com for game times and promotions.
The El Paso Diablos are members of the newly formed American Association of Professional Baseball. In 2005 the Diablos led the Central League in average attendance while averaging well over 4,000 fans each night at Cohen Stadium. This year El Paso and Cohen Stadium will play host to the 2006 American Association/Can-Am League All Star game on July 18.
