El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos finished a record-long game with the Amarillo Sox with an 11-9 victory in 16 innings and then secured a series victory with a 10-6 triumph over their division rivals to complete a 4-3 road trip.

Tuesday's game was suspended after 14 innings due to league rules and continued Wednesday, picking up the action in the top of the 15th with the score tied at 9. El Paso finally broke through with two runs in the top of the 16th on a Sox throwing error. By the time Freddy Flores earned the save for winning pitcher Kyle Cremers (3-3), the game had gone an American Association record 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Then, in the series finale, El Paso wasted no time taking the lead as Maikol Gonzalez hit the very first pitch from Sox starter Phil Bartleski over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead. Jonathan Cisneros added a two run triple as the Diablos jumped all over the Amarillo right hander for seven runs in five innings.

David Casillas (1-0) got the victory by throwing six innings, allowing two runs and striking out eight for his first win as a Diablo.

The Diablos now return home for a brief three-game homestand with the Lincoln Saltdogs.
