DeWanna Bonner Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

UNCASVILLE, CT - On Monday, August 17, Connecticut Sun forward DeWanna Bonner was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. This is the first honor for Bonner and the Sun this season.

The 6'4" Auburn University graduate earns the nod after averaging 15.5 points per game, eight rebounds per game, three assists per game and 2.3 steals per game over the span of four contests last week. Her totals through the four games combined for 62 points, 32 rebounds, 12 assists and nine steals.

This is the seventh Player of the Week honor for Bonner. She earned six Western Conference Player of the Week award while with the Phoenix Mercury and this marks her first Eastern Conference POW award.

Connecticut, who started the season off 0-5, turned things around last week and won three out of four contests and included a three-game win streak. The Sun are now 4-7 overall at the halfway mark of the regular season.

The Connecticut Sun return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18th against the Indiana Fever at 7pm on NESN+.
