
Essence Carson Signed to the Sun, Team Waives Gemelos

Uncasville, CT - It was announced today that the Connecticut Sun has been awarded Essence Carson via waiver claim. Succeeding the transaction, Jacki Gemelos was waived by the Sun.
Carson, a 12-year veteran, was recently waived by the Washington Mystics. With the Mystics, she appeared in 10 games, averaged 4.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. Carson, who was selected 7th overall by the New York Liberty in the 2008 WNBA Draft, played eight seasons in New York, three years in Los Angeles, where she won a WNBA Championship in 2016 and one season in Phoenix.
The Rutgers graduate has tallied a total of 2612 career points in 356 games, as well ae 816 rebounds, 438 assists, 281 steals. She was also named a WNBA All-Star in 2011 while with the Liberty.
Gemelos saw action in six games for the Sun in her second WNBA season.
