Albany Devils News Release

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Albany Devils road trip didn't produce the result they wanted, falling to the Worcester Sharks, 6-1, Saturday at the DCU Center. Worcester's efforts were backed by three goals by James Livingston.

The Devils goal came off the stick of Vladimir Zharkov late in the first period with assists going to Stephen Gionta and Alexander Urbom.

Albany was handicapped early as back-to-back Worcester goals put the Devils down 8:52 into the game. Benn Ferriero struck first with a blast from the right circle at 6:07 and Matt Irwin found a hole while on the power play 2:45 later.

Before the intermission, Zharkov cut the deficit in half as he picked up a Gionta rebound and slid the puck between the legs of a turned-around Tyson Sexsmith at 15:39. The 4-on-4 tally began with Urbom for his team-leading third assist of the season.

In the second, the Sharks reclaimed a two-goal advantage with their second power-play goal of the evening. Ben Guite cashed in with help from Sean Sullivan at 13:24.

Livingston concluded the scoring with three-straight goals in the third. The first came 28 seconds, the second was at 1:45 and the third was at 5:32. The latter two goals came on the power play.

Between the pipes, Jeff Frazee, who made 25 saves, was credited with the loss. At the other end, Sexsmith registered the win with 15 stops.

The Devils return to action tomorrow with a 4 p.m. contest against the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Binghamton Senators, at the Times Union Center. Fans are encouraged to stick around for a post-game autograph session. Additionally, fans who bring their own skates can participate in the post-game skate presented by Stanley Steemer.
