LOWELL, MA - Ben Walter had a goal and an assist and Mike McKenna made 40 saves in net to lead the Lowell Devils to a 4-0 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Tuesday not at Tsongas Arena. The loss was the third straight for the Sound Tigers, dropping them to 4-3-0-0 on the season

The Devils jumped on top with 5:46 left in the first period on Rob Davison's first goal of the season. Ben Walter set the play by carrying the puck into the offensive zone and slid a pass into the slot. Davison was standing in between three Sound Tigers defenders, took the pass and wristed a shot high into the net, past Scott Munroe for a 1-0 Devils lead after one period.

Walter made it 2-0 Devils at the 3:11 mark of the second period. After Munroe made a save on an initial blast off the stick of Matt Taormina, Walter was standing at the side of the net to clean up the rebound for his second goal of the year. Brad Snetisiger gave the Devils a 3-0 lead with 1:05 left in the second when he won a race to a loose puck in the neutral zone, skated in and backhanded a shot over Munroe's blocker.

The Sound Tigers' Jesse Joensuu had an apparent goal disallowed midway through the third period because of a premature whistle by the referee. Patrick Davis tacked on the fourth goal with 6:52 left, taking a pass from Tim Sestito and snapping a shot past Munroe from the top of the face-off circle.

Bridgeport out-shot Lowell 40-30 for the game but couldn't put a puck behind McKenna, who picked up his second shutout of the season.

The Sound Tigers are back in action Friday when they visit the Manchester Monarchs at 7:30 pm. Bridgeport will be back on home ice this weekend, hosting the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday at 7:00 pm and entertaining the Albany River Rats Sunday at 4:00 pm.
