MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Lowell Devils set a franchise high for goals scored in a game as they defeated the Manchester Monarchs, 7-3, on Tuesday at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The win - the seventh in eight games against the Monarchs this season - saw Benoit Mondou (3g, 1a) and Olivier Magnan (0g, 4a) set team season-highs with four points each.

The Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, scoring three times on just seven shots in the frame. Olli Malmivaara started it at 8:34 when Erik Rasmussen spun out from behind the net and found him at the far circle for a low shot that squeezed through the pads of Danny Taylor.

Mondou then took over the goal scoring for the rest of the period, notching two on the power play. His first of the game came 1:05 after Malmivaara's goal, as his pass from down low was deflected over top of the net, bounced off of Taylor and across the goal line. Then, with his team skating on five-minute man-advantage, Mondou sent a one-timer from the far hash mark into the top shelf with 1:09 until the intermission.

Lowell did one better than its first period performance with four goals in the second. They also continued their success on the power play as Mike Pandolfo scored at 2:30 before Petr Vrana added another on the man-advantage almost five minutes later that made the score 5-0 in their favor.

Matt Ryan stopped the bleeding for a brief while as he got the Monarchs on the board at 9:03, but Mondou pushed the Devils' lead back to five 1:20 later with the finishing touch on his hat trick. Olivier Magnan skated puck down the far boards and sent a pass out of the corner that Mondou was able to tap in from the top of the crease. The hat trick was the Devils' second of the season and upped Mondou's goal total to 10.

Magnan picked up another assist - his fourth of the night - on Malmivaara's power play goal at 15:48 that put Lowell up 7-1. Skating on a 5-on-3 advantage, Gabe Gauthier fired a slapshot from the slot that got by Dave Caruso with 38 seconds left in the period for the Monarchs' second goal of the game.

Manchester completed the scoring with the only tally of the third period, Peter Kanko's marker at 14:59.

Caruso stopped 35-of-37 shots to go 2-0-1-0 in his last three starts. The Devils finished the game 5-for-9 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill. The five power play goals notched in the contest was also a franchise best.
