Devils Rally Again, Defeat Senators 3-2

BINGHAMTON, NY - For the second straight night, the Albany Devils rallied in the third period to knockoff a fellow Empire State resident. Backed by 37 saves from Jeff Frazee and goals from Matt Anderson and Phil DeSimone, the Devils defeated the Binghamton Senators, 3-2, in a shootout.

Albany erased a two goal, third period deficit Saturday at the Syracuse Crunch before traveling just south for Sunday's game at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Binghamton's Corey Cowick scored at 1:42 of the second and Hugh Jessiman beat Frazee on a penalty shot at 1:08 of the third to grab a 2-0 lead.

The resilient Devils answered with Anderson's goal set up by Frazee at 5:24 and DeSimone's marker from Eric Gelinas and Tim Sestito at 10:21.

The Devils, who unloaded a season-high 47 shots, fired a combined 38 shots during the second and third periods and in overtime.

In the shootout, Mike Sislo and Chad Wiseman scored during the first and second rounds. Binghamton's Dustin Gazley scored in the fourth round and Jessiman extended the session with a goal in the fifth round. Joe Whitney provided the sixth round tally and Frazee shut the door on Chris Wideman for Albany's second shootout victory of the week.

Albany is now on a three game winning streak and is only one point out of playoff positioning.

Game Notes - The Devils and the Senators will meet five more times with the next meeting coming Sunday at Times Union Center at 3 pm. Albany is 2-1-0-0 against Binghamton this season.

- Jeff Frazee earned his fourth victory of the season. His 37 saves were his second-highest total of the year. He made 42 stops at St. John's on Nov. 17.

- Matt Anderson scored for the third straight game, netting his 10th tally of the season. Since Tuesday, Anderson has contributed seven points with three goals and four assists.

- In his last two games, Phil DeSimone has two goals. For the year, he has registered five goals and two assists for seven points in 18 contests.

- Jeff Frazee, Eric Gelinas and Tim Sestito each had assists. Frazee registered his first point, while Gelinas registered his 14th point (4g-10a) and Sestito posted his 19th (7g-12a).

- Albany's goaltenders have faced five penalty shots this season and four since Jan. 18.
