Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Admirals picked up a crucial win Sunday afternoon against the Peoria Rivermen at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, defeating the Peoria Rivermen 1-0. Magnus Hellberg was lights out as he stopped all 30 shots he faced for his first career shutout.
The Admirals came out firing on all cylinders and got on the board first at 4:17 of the first period. Cam Reid carried the puck into the zone and slid a pass across the slot to Mark Van Guilder who beat a sliding Mike McKenna for a 1-0 lead. That made it three consecutive games with a point for Reid after missing the previous eight with an injury.
Magnus Hellberg made seven saves throughout the first period including a few big saves on the penalty kill to keep the Admirals up 1-0 at the break.
The Admirals continued to fight hard throughout the second period and had several opportunities but McKenna came up big to keep it a one goal game. However, Hellberg match him save-for-save, including a huge 2 on 1 to keep the Rivermen off the board
The Rivermen came out firing in the third peppering Hellberg with 13 shots, but the lanky Swede was up to the task and made several highlight reel saves to keep his shutout.
The Admirals continue their season-long seven-game homestand Tuesday night when they host the Abbotsford Heat at 7:00 pm at the BMOHBC.
