Trenton Devils News Release

Trenton, N.J. - The Trenton Devils (20-28-1-3) scored three power-play goals on Saturday night on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals (22-22-6-1) at the Sun National Bank Center.

At 7:40 of the first period, Michael Dubuc turned around in the left circle and fired a shot past Devils netminder Jeff Lerg to put Elmira up 1-0.

The Devils bounced back with their first power-play goal at 12:56 of the opening period. Ryan Ginand was found backdoor from the left circle by Matt Vokes, and Ginand knocked in a puck from the right goal line past Elmira netminder Marco Cousineau to even the score, 1-1.

Jeremy Akeson snuck a shot from the right circle past Cousineau's glove side on the power play at 13:26 of the second period to give Trenton its first lead of the game, 2-1.

Ginand backhanded a puck from the slot and into the net at 3:21 of the third period to put Trenton up 3-1.

Dale Mahovsky took a feed from outside the crease from Tristin Llewellyn and shot the puck in for his first ECHL goal to bring the Jackals to within a goal, 3-2. Elmira could not solve Trenton the rest of the way, however, as the Devils earned the victory

Lerg stopped 36 of 38 shots, including 19 in a 20-shot first period from the Jackals. He improved to 7-7 on the season. Cousineau fell to 13-10-4-0 with 42 saves on 45 shots.

The Jackals take on the Reading Royals at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday at the Sovereign Center.
