
Devil Rays sweep away Bees 6-2

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. -- The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays completed their first four-game sweep of the season after a 6-2 defeat of the Burlington Bees on Monday night at C.O. Brown Stadium.
Chris Nowak drove in three runs, two on a triple, and Brandon Rousseve added three hits as the Rays surged to a 6-0 lead after three innings and never let up. Brandon Mann won his eighth game of the season with five shutout innings after allowing only four hits and four walks with one strikeout.
Southwest Michigan has now won five straight games including all four of this homestand against the Bees. The Devil Rays outscored Burlington 21-6 in the series as the team climbed to six games over .500 at 32-26 in the second half. The magic number for Southwest Michigan to make the playoffs drops to six with the win and is pending the outcome of the Lansing game at Wisconsin. The Devil Rays went over the 90,000 mark in attendance with the 976 that enjoyed a brisk August evening.
The Devil Rays will enjoy two days off before embarking on their final road trip, a four-game set in Lansing on August 25-28 before returning home for eight straight to end the season on August 29 against Kane County.
The team will host its biggest concert of the season on Saturday, August 27 when Jam 4 Life takes center stage. Jam 4 Life is a benefit concert for two Battle Creek brothers who need life-saving organ transplants. Tommy James and the Shondells, the Georgia Satellites and the Turtles.
