APPLETON, WI - Jordan Devencenzi hit a solo home run, but the Beloit Snappers (13-18) fell 10-3 to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (17-19) Monday night at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third inning, Devencenzi launched his first home run of the season and just the second of his professional career to put the Snappers on the board as they trailed 2-1. Later in the frame, Trace Loehr sent a sac fly to left field, scoring Nick Allen to tie the game at 2.
Jesus Lopez gave the Snappers a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth, as the third baseman singled home Logan Farrar who doubled earlier in the inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
Wisconsin then stormed back with seven runs, as they plated a pair in the bottom of the fifth and put up a five-spot in the sixth.
Demi Orimoloye launched his second home run in the bottom of the fifth, a two-run shot to give the T-Rats a 4-3 lead.
A double, single, triple and a wild pitch led to five Timber Rattlers runs in the bottom of the sixth, as Wisconsin extended their lead to 9-3 before adding an RBI double by Gabriel Garcia in the seventh to cap of the T-Rats scoring.
Lazaro Armenteros, Hunter Hargrove and Jesus Lopez each chipped in two-hit performances in the loss and Jack Meggs saw his six game hitting streak end with a 0-for-3 night.
For Hargrove, he has now hit safely in his last eight games and has lifted his batting average from .245 to .301 in the eight games.
The series continues with game two of the series against the Timber Rattlers Tuesday at noon with a doubleheader. Right-hander Bryce Conley (1-2, 5.74) will start for the Snappers in game one, and left-hander Jared Poché (0-1, 3.38).
