Detroit Recalls Anthony Mantha

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled forward Anthony Mantha from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Mantha, 22, is tied for the AHL lead with eight goals (8-2 - 10) in 10 games this season while tying for second with four power play tallies.

Mantha is coming off a 2015-16 season in which he placed fourth on the Griffins in regular season scoring (21-24 - 45) and paced the club in the postseason with 11 points (4-7 - 11).

Skating in 132 games with the Griffins since 2014, Mantha has registered 88 points (44-44 - 88) and contributed 15 points (6-9 - 15) in 25 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Detroit's first choice, 20th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Mantha became the 154th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL after debuting with the Red Wings last season. The 6-foot-5, 204-pound winger has appeared in 10 games with Detroit and totaled three points (2-1 - 3).

The Longueuil, Quebec, native, enjoyed a prolific junior career prior to turning pro. In 2013-14, he earned the Michel Briere Trophy as the QMJHL's MVP and the Jean Beliveau Trophy as the top scorer while with Val d'Or. In total, Mantha accumulated 260 points (129-131 - 260) in 189 games from 2010-2014.

The 6-4 Griffins play host to the Rockford IceHogs tonight at 7 p.m.
