Syracuse, N.Y. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers open a three-game road trip this weekend, facing the Syracuse Crunch (6-3-0-0) and Hershey Bears (6-2-2-0) tonight and tomorrow respectively. It all begins at 7 p.m. tonight when Bridgeport makes its only stop at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena this season, where they will face the Syracuse Crunch. The Sound Tigers are looking to bounce back after a 7-1 setback last Saturday to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at home. Devon Toews scored for the second time in as many nights and Loic Leduc recorded a career-high five shots, but that's all the offense the Sound Tigers could muster up as their two-game win streak was snapped. Bridgeport has not lost back-to-back games yet this season.

TIGERS VS. CRUNCH

Tonight's game marks the first of two meetings between the Sound Tigers and Crunch this season, and their only matchup in Syracuse, NY. Bridgeport went 0-2-0-0 against Syracuse last season including a 5-2 setback in their last head-to-head meeting on March 11, 2016. Bracken Kearns scored the Sound Tigers first goal that night, while Christopher Gibson suffered the loss with 27 saves. Bridgeport last beat the Crunch on April 19, 2015 at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena. Colin Markison and Scott Mayfield each recorded a goal in a 4-2 win that evening.

VIEW F ROM SYRACUSE

Benoit Groulx's club enters tonight's contest on a two-game win streak following a 2-1 victory over the Utica Comets at home last Saturday. Former Sound Tiger Mike Halmo, who ranked third in Bridgeport's scoring race last season with 41 points, scored the game-winning goal in the third period, while Adam Wilcox made 23 saves to earn his team-leading fourth win of the season. The Crunch continue a three-game homestand this evening, which concludes tomorrow night against Rochester.

TIGERS VS. BEARS

Saturday's game will mark the second of eight meetings between the Sound Tigers and Bears this season, and also the second of four matchups at GIANT Center. Hershey currently leads the season series 1-0-0-0 after a 5-2 win on October 22nd, in which the Bears received goals from five different skaters. Tanner Fritz recorded both tallies for the Sound Tigers. Bridgeport went 2-3-0-1 against Hershey last season, but 2-1-0-0 in those games on the road. The Sound Tigers won't face Hershey at Webster Bank Arena until February 12, 2017.

VIEW FROM CHOCOLATETOWN

Hershey enters the weekend on a five-game win streak and an eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0), which began with the club's win over Bridgeport on October 22nd. The Bears currently rank second in the Atlantic Division with 14 points as they open a two-game homestand tomorrow night. In their last outing on Sunday, Hershey again showed great parody with five goals from five different skaters, and a 21-save performance from goaltender Joe Cannata, to beat the Rochester Americans 5-3. The Bears are led in scoring by Chris Bourque with nine points in 10 games, while Jakub Vrana has registered a team-best five goals. Hershey is in Albany tonight to face the Devils at 7 p.m.

ON THE OPEN ROAD

The Sound Tigers open a three-game road trip tonight including stops in Syracuse and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the first time this season. Bridgeport is 3-1-0-0 on the road so far, outscoring opponents 17-12. In addition, Bridgeport is 4-for-17 (23.5-percent) on the power play on the road, good for eighth in the AHL.

GIBSON STAYS PERFECT

Fourth-year netminder Chris Gibson earned his league-leading sixth win of the season last Friday and is now 6-0-0-0 to begin the year. In fact, Gibson has won eight straight regular-season starts dating back to March 29, 2016 (8-0-0-0). The 23-year-old has also moved into a tie for eighth place on Bridgeport's all-time wins list with 25 career victories, even with Steve Valiquette (2001-03). Gibson is the only Sound Tigers goaltender to win each of his first six starts to begin a season.

TOEWS DELIVERING OFFENSIVELY

Rookie defenseman Devon Toews has scored in back-to-back games, including his first pro tally last Friday in Hartford. The goal was scored on a shorthanded breakaway, set up nicely by a long lead pass from Kellen Jones. Toews, 22, played three seasons at Quinnipiac University just 30 minutes north of Bridgeport in Hamden, CT. He recorded 67 points (12 goals, 55 assists) and a plus-37 rating in 108 collegiate games. No Sound Tigers' player has scored in three straight games yet this season.

QUICK HITS

Michael Dal Colle has scored in four of his last six games and is tied for first among AHL rookies with five goals... The Sound Tigers are 6-0-0-0 when Bracken Kearns has a point and 5-0-0-0 when scoring first this season... Kearns played his 600th AHL game last Friday in Hartford... Loic Leduc is one game from his 100th pro appearance... Bridgeport is 20-for-22 on the penalty kill over its last four games (90.9-percent)... Scott Mayfield leads the Sound Tigers with 25 shots, which also ranks him fifth among AHL defensemen.
