Detroit City FC News Release
DETROIT, Michigan - The Detroit City Football Club returns home after a four-game road W league stint to take on Kings Hammer FC at Keyworth Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 pm airing locally on TV20 Detroit, WSYM TV FOX 47 Lansing, WWMT CW7 Grand Rapids, and WBSF CW46 in Flint.
Detroit City is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at AFC Ann Arbor last Wednesday that was decided in the 80th minute by Ann Arbor's Lina Berrah's fourth goal of the season. With the loss, DCFC fell to sixth place in the Great Lakes Division with a 1-2-3 record.
Despite the loss, goalkeeper Deighton Wamer continued to shine for Le Rouge, earning herself the Woman of the Match honors on Wednesday with six saves - highlighted by a diving stop on a free kick in the 26th minute to rob Ann Arbor of an early lead.
Forward Ellie Pool has been a standout for City this summer, leading the squad with three goals. Forward Kenna White and Pool pace DCFC in shots, with 17 and 14, respectively. Defender Alia Fredericks paces the side with two assists.
Sunday's fixture will be Le Rouge's first at home since hosting Racing Louisville on May 12. DCFC is 0-2-0 at Keyworth this season, with draws against Kalamazoo FC and Racing Louisville.
Kings Hammer sits at the bottom of the Great Lakes table and is still looking for its first win of the season. The club has struggled offensively, scoring only two goals thus far and sports a -14 goal differential.
Gates open at 3 pm on Sunday and tickets are available at tickets.detcityfc.com. Sunday's fixture will be a celebration of 50 years of Title IX.
After Sunday's match, Le Rouge will turn its sights to a rematch against Ann Arbor AFC at Keyworth on Wednesday, June 15.
