Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY) – The Buffalo Destroyers qualified for the playoffs for the second time in franchise history. The Fleet clinched the 10th seed and will travel to Orlando to face the 7th seeded Southern Division Champion Predators in the first round.

Kickoff is set for Friday, July 26 at 7:30 PM at the TD Waterhouse Center. The game will be aired on tape delay Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 PM on TNN. The game will air live on WNSA 107.7 FM.

"Every team's goal is to win a championship," said Destroyers head coach and general manager Ray Bentley. "In order to do that, you have to get in the playoffs and that's where we are at."

The Destroyers finished 6-8 for the second season in a row and clinched a playoff berth despite their season ending 46-41 loss to the Los Angeles Avengers Saturday night.

"We get to start over with 11 other teams and let's see who's the best," Bentley added.

This is the second playoff berth in three years for the Destroyers. After a 0-4 start in 2000, Bentley took over as head coach and general manager and the Fleet's five game winning streak towards the end of the season propelled them to a 5-9 record and a spot in the playoffs. Buffalo lost to Arizona in the first round 41-34 at America West Arena.
