Carpenter Garners All-Arena Honors

(BUFFALO, NY)- The Arena Football League announced today Buffalo Destroyers DS Dwaine Carpenter was named second team All-Arena.

Carpenter (6-2, 215, North Carolina A&T) was the leader of the league's second ranked defense. He finished the season third in the AFL with 26 passes defended, tied for fifth with eight interceptions and sixth with 84.0 tackles.

Carpenter broke several Destroyers team records this season. He set the record for career tackles (148), interceptions in a season (8), interceptions in a career (11), pass breakups in a season (18), pass breakups in a career (29), passes defended in a season (26) and passed defended in a career (40).

Carpenter becomes the second player in team history to earn All-Arena honors. K Steve McLaughlin earned second team honors in 2002.

The AFL Playoffs begin this Saturday, May 24 with the Wild Card Round when the No. 5 Dallas Desperados host the No. 12 Georgia Force at 3 p.m. ET (NBC). On Sunday, May 25 at 3 p.m. ET there will be three games: the No. 6-seeded Arizona Rattlers host the No. 11 seed, the Las Vegas Gladiators; the No. 7 Grand Rapids Rampage host the No. 10 Detroit Fury; and the No. 8 New York is scheduled to host the No. 9 Chicago. All games will be broadcast on NBC.
