Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY)- The Buffalo Destroyers announced today they have relieved Head Coach Ron Selesky of his duties.

"We believe Coach Selesky is an honorable man who clearly understands the game of football," said Destroyers owner and CEO Mark Hamister. "However, a 5-11 record, which represents a 31% win rate, and the second worst in team history, is unacceptable to the organization. We decided in the best interest of the Buffalo Destroyers that we needed to make a change.

Selesky was Head Coach of the Destroyers for one season after spending last year with the af2 Albany Conquest where he earned 2002 af2 Head Coach of the Year honors. In addition to being head coach, Selesky also served as Buffalo's director of football operations, overseeing the team's player personnel transactions.

The Destroyers also announced they previously released Wide Receivers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Ryan Gallo of his duties.

The remaining assistants, Defensive Coordinator Weylan Harding, OL/DL Coach Jerome Brown and FB/LB Coach Chad Lindsey remain on staff with the Destroyers.

"I was very pleased with the defensive performance of the team and am looking forward to the continued direction of the Destroyers defense led by Weylan Harding," Hamister said.

The team will officially launch its head coaching search effective today, June 12.

"Fans should expect that we will have a strong emphasis on offensive talents for our head coach going into the future," Hamister added.
