
AFL Names All-Arena Teams
May 20, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK â The San Jose SaberCats, who have secured the top seed in the Drive to ArenaBowl XVII, led all AFL teams with four selections â including three on the first team â for the 2003 All-Arena First and Second Teams. The Tampa Bay Storm and Dallas Desperados had three total selections, while the Arizona Rattlers, Chicago Rush, Indiana Firebirds, Los Angeles Avengers and Orlando Predators had two each. The Georgia Force, New York Dragons, Buffalo Destroyers and Las Vegas Gladiators were each represented with one selection.
San Jose's first-team selections included: FB/LB KEALA KEANAAINA, WR/DB BARRY WAGNER and DS/KR CLEVAN THOMAS. Arizona placed QB SHERDRICK BONNER and WR/DB RANDY GATEWOOD on the first team. Los Angeles was the only other team with multiple first-team selections with OS CHRIS JACKSON and WR/LB GREG HOPKINS earning spots.
The Offensive Plaer, ADT Defensive Player and Ironman of the Year will be announced the week of June 2. The next awards to be announced will be the All-Ironman team on Wednesday, May 21. Following is the complete list of the 2003 All-Arena First and Second Teams:
