July 23, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Portland Forest Dragons News Release
DURHAM, N.C. â Sioux City left-handed pitcher Denny McDaniel was named to the Central Division All-Star team by manager Hal Lanier on Tuesday after Explorers All-Star pitcher David Glick was sold to the New York Yankees on Monday.
McDaniel, 25, has a 4-2 record with a pencil-thin 1.67 earned run average in 19 relief appearances. In 37 2-3 innings he has yielded 24 hits, seven earned runs, three walks and has struck out 40 batters.
McDaniel is a former 48th-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in 1995. He was in the Royals system for three years and one year apiece with the Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox and Abilene of the Texas-Louisiana League.
Sioux City lost two of its top starters in one day. Glick was sold to the Yankees and Roger Luque was purchased by the Seattle Mariners.
The All-Star Game will be played on Aug. 6 in Quebec City, Quebec. Lanier, Winnipeg's skipper who is managing the East, is opposed by the East Division managed by New Jersey's George Tsamis.
