Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. - The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League announced today that the team will not renew the contract of Head Coach Mouse Davis for the 2003 season. Davis will, however, continue to serve the team in an advisory capacity.

"Mouse did an absolutely terrific job in establishing the Fury and delivering a playoff team in our expansion year last season," said Greg Myford, Fury general manager. "Obviously, we took a step backward this year, and with the 2003 season only six months away, now is the time to make adjustments. We're looking forward to a fresh start at training camp in January."

After posting a respectable 7-7 regular season record and qualifying for post-season play during its inaugural campaign in 2001, Detroit recently completed its sophomore season with a disappointing 1-13 record.

Detroit will begin their search for Davis' replacement immediately. In addition, the Fury will not renew the contracts of assistant coaches Rod Humenuik, Malvin Hunter, Tom Menas and Rich Stubler.

The AFL's 17th season begins in February of 2003. Log on to detroitfury.com for complete team information and off-season updates.
