Reading completed the sweep of the Thunder in their final series of the season with a 7-3 decision on Monday afternoon. With the defeat, the Thunder finished their season with a record of 67-75.

For the second time in the series, Reading jumped on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the second. Against starter Jeremy Bleich, the Fightin Phils put two runners on with one out and a wild pitch from Bleich brought home Brock Stassi. Zach Collier then reached with a single and Raywilly Gomez drove him home with another single to make it 2-0.

The Fightin Phils added to their lead in the third inning. KC Serna led off with a triple and Reading loaded the bases after Peter Lavin and Jake Fox walked. After a strikeout of Aaron Altherr for the first out of the inning, Brock Stassi hit a groundball back to the mound and Bleich's throw home was wide to allow two runs to score for the visitors.

Bleich retired the side in order in the fourth inning to complete his outing. He allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks in his final start of the 2014 season. Bleich struck out three and dropped his record with the Thunder to 5-6.

The Thunder offense stranded nine baserunners in the first four innings of the game, but, finally broke through against Adam Loewen in the fifth inning. Greg Bird led off the inning with a double and after a groundout by Dan Fiorito, Mason Williams drove in Bird with a base hit through the middle and bring the Thunder within 4-1. Ali Castillo followed Williams' single with a hustle double to shallow left and Francisco Arcia drove both runners home with a base hit to bring the Thunder within one.

Loewen earned the victory allowing three runs in five innings. He was the benefactor of some late offense as Reading added to their advantage with two runs in the seventh and another in the ninth.

In the seventh, KC Serna reached on an error by Dan Fiorito to score Edgar Duran. Peter Lavin took advantage of the error and scored Serna with a base hit to right. Against Nick Goody in the ninth inning, Lavin struck again with a base hit to score Albert Cartwright to give them the final margin.

The Thunder tied a season-high with 14 runners left on base. Greg Bird (2-for-2, with three walks), Francisco Arcia (3-for-5, two RBI) and Ali Castillo (2-for-5 with a double) led the Thunder offense.
