GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Suns gave up three runs in the eighth inning in a 4-2 loss to the Greenville Braves in front of 4,816 fans Friday at Municipal Stadium.

Despite only managing three hits, the Suns led, 2-1, into the eighth. Reliever Greg Bauer (5-4) took the loss when he allowed a game-tying single up the middle to Ramon Castro followed by a bases-loaded double to James Jurries which scored the go-ahead runs for Greenville (48-53 overall, 12-21 second half).

The Suns (49-54, 18-16) scored its runs on a two-run single by Nick Alvarez in the fourth. Jason Repko was hit with a pitch leading off the inning and moved to third on Reggie Abercrombie's double. Alvarez hit a hard one-hopper to second base which was kept in the infield when Richard Lewis dove to stop it. But both runs scored when Alvarez slid safely feet-first into first. Repko's two-out, eighth inning triple was the other hit for Jacksonville.

Suns starter Joel Hanrahan threw 104 pitches in five innings, but allowed one run and tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Braves starter Adam Wainwright avoided a loss and allowed two runs and two hits over seven innings.

Braves reliever Kevin Barry (4-3) pitched a scoreless eighth inning to record the win. Billy Sylvester retired the Suns in the ninth to collect his 11th save.

Right-hander Edwin Jackson (5-6, 3.60 ERA) is scheduled to face the Carolina Mudcats at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Five County Stadium. Carolina has not named a starting pitcher.
