Huntsville, Ala.- Huntsville scored five runs both the fourth and eighth innings as part of an 11-5 win over Tennessee (22-11, 57-46) Friday night at Joe Davis Stadium. The Stars (57-43, 17-15) earned a series split with the win.
Julio Villalon (L, 4-2) lost to the Stars for the second time this season by allowing five runs over four innings. Noochie Varner erased a 1-0 Tennessee lead with a 3-run home run off Villalon in the fifth inning.
Leading 6-4 in the eight, the Stars touched Smokies reliever Mike Lyons for five runs on six hits as they batted around for the second time in the game.
Tennessee loaded the bases in the 8th, and Dan Moylan delivered a pinch-hit two run single, but managed little else and stranded 12 runners in the loss.
Huntsville starter Jeff Housman (2-0) won for the second time in as many starts for the Stars.
Tennessee opens a four game series at Orlando Saturday night with Juan Pena (4-3, 2.94) starting for the Smokies against Scott Autrey (1-2, 3.56).
