Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons goaltender Jeff Deslauriers will depart early this week to participate in the Spengler Cup as a member of Team Canada, the Barons front office announced today.

The Spengler Cup is often cited as the oldest invitational hockey tournament in the world. Started in 1923, the annual tournament is hosted by the Swiss hockey team Davos HC in Davos, Switzerland. Teams playing in the tournament are predominantly made up of players currently playing for European clubs. Deslauriers is the only player from Team Canada currently on a North American team's roster.

Oklahoma City skates tonight on the road against the Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m. Following that game, the team will return home and have a few days off for the holidays. The team's next home game is December 28 against the Texas Stars at 7:05 p.m.

NOTE: The Barons re-assigned forward Jesse Gimblett to the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. Gimblett was recalled December 9 from Stockton and appeared in two games with the Barons.
