MetLife Auto and Home Rally Towel Night

Tuesday, December 28th is MetLife Auto and Home Rally Towel Night. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Pirates rally towel, courtesy of MetLife Auto and Home. Snoopy will also make an appearance at the game, and kids can meet and have their pictures taken with the famous Peanuts beagle.

$10,000 Dash for Cash

Tyler Alexander won $838 in the Portland Pirates Dash for Cash held during the first intermission of the Pirates game against the Manchester Monarchs Saturday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Alexander qualified to participate in the Dash for Cash by listening to the PM JAB (96.3 FM) with Chris Sedenka and Javier Gorriti.

New Year's Celebration

Before heading out to your own New Year's Party, bring the whole family to the Cumberland County Civic Center on December 31st at 5:30 p.m. and watch the hometown Pirates take on the Atlantic Division rival Connecticut Whale.

WGME 13 and WJBQ present the annual Kid's New Year's Game. The game, an expected sellout, will mark the 16th season the Pirates have celebrated New Year's featuring New England's largest indoor fireworks display at the conclusion of the game.

Pirates Recap

The Pirates busy weekend began on Friday night when they visited Manchester for the second of three straight matchups between the two clubs. Led by Bud Holloway's hat-trick, the Monarchs never trailed in the game and came out victorious by a 4-3 margin. Andrei Loktionov netted the game-winner on a shorthanded goal early in the third period to establish a comfortable 4-2 advantage. Luke Adam registered a couple of assists in his return to Portland, and Marc-Andre Gragnani, Matt Ellis, and Paul Byron each scored for the Pirates.

After four straight game son the road, the Pirates came back to the Civic Center for another tilt with Manchester. In a hard fought goaltending showdown, Jhonas Enroth saved 42 shots but Monarchs netminder Martin Jones outlasted his counterpart in a 2-1 overtime victory for Manchester remain atop the Atlantic Division. Justin Azevedo netted the game-winner 58 seconds into overtime to improve the Monarchs record to 19-11-1-1. Marc-Andre Gragnani and Manchester's Thomas Hickey scored the lone regulation goals.

The Pirates traveled to Bridgeport to play the Sound Tigers in a Sunday afternoon tilt to complete the weekend. Stymied by another solid opposing goaltender performance, the Pirates could only manage a single score in the first period by forward Luke Adam. Bridgeport goalie Kevin Poulin saved 26 shots, and Jeremy Colliton scored the game-winner at the 4:17 mark of the thrid period. Also contributing to the Sound Tigers scoring efforts were Michael Haley and Brandon Svendson.

Portland currently stands at 17-10-2-1 for 37 points, and in second-place in the highly competitive Atlantic Division.
