York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 7-2 Saturday night in front of 8,047 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium in the second game of their day-night, two-city doubleheader to even the season series between the two teams. York was led by a masterful performance from starter Matt DeSalvo who didn't allow a run to score until the bottom of the ninth inning. The final game of the season's first half will be played Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

York opened up the scoring in the top of the fourth inning when RF Chris Walker crossed the plate on a double play grounded into by DH James Shanks.

The Revolution tacked on two more scores in the sixth inning with Shanks knocking in a run with a single and LF Val Majewski bringing in the other run on a fielder's choice, extending the lead to 3-0.

York added two more runs to their lead the following inning making it a 5-0 game with CF Scott Grimes blasting a two run homer off the right field foul pole, scoring SS Eric Eymann who singled earlier in the inning.

The Revolution plated two runs for the third consecutive inning in the eighth as Majewski lead off with a solo shot towering over the right field wall for his 11th homerun of the season, and Grimes collected another RBI by slapping a bases loaded single to right-center giving the Revs a 7-0 lead.

The Barnstormers finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning when 3B Aaron Herr hammered a two run home run to left field scoring CF Adam Calderone, denying DeSalvo what would have been just the second complete game shutout in Revs history.

DeSalvo earned the win (6-3) in his best start of the year, going the distance and striking out 12 Lancaster batters, the second highest strikeout total by a pitcher in Revs history. Going into the final inning, DeSalvo had not allowed a run and only gave up four hits. DeSalvo ended the game throwing 131 pitches with 84 of them for strikes.
