Des Moines Acquires Affiliate and Draft Pick in Trade

The Des Moines Buccaneers have acquired defenseman Clarke Nehmens and a 2024 Phase II USHL Draft Pick from the Omaha Lancers in exchange for forward Christian Kocsis.

Nehmens is a 2007-born right shot defenseman out of Chino Hills, California and was drafted by the Omaha Lancers 92nd overall in the 7th round of the 2023 Phase I USHL Draft. Nehmens is currently playing with the Shattuck St. Mary's 16U AAA program has averaged over a point per game with 14 points in 11 games played (2G-12A-14P). Nehmens has been added to the Des Moines affiliate list.

The 2024 Phase II draft pick received by the Bucs comes from Omaha via Waterloo and is a conditional 6th Round pick. If the player received by Omaha scores 30 points this season for the Lancers, the pick becomes a 5th Round pick.

Kocsis, a 2004 forward and Providence commit, is in his third season in the USHL and has 120 games under his belt including 85 across the better part of two seasons in Des Moines. Last season, Kocsis scored 24 points in 53 games, on 10 goals and 14 assists.

The Des Moines Buccaneers are back home this weekend at Buccaneer Arena on Friday, Oct. 13 for the first 2-for-1 Beer Night of the season when the Green Bay Gamblers (3-3-0-0) come to town for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Western Conference leading Tri-City Storm take the ice for a 6:00 p.m. puck drop.
