
Lancers Add Christian Kocsis from Des Moines

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the acquisition of Forward, Christian Kocsis from the Des Moines Buccaneers, in exchange for Affiliate Defenseman, Clarke Nehmens and a 2024 6th round, phase II draft pick.
Kocsis (2004), of Middletown, New Jersey has just started his third full-time season in the USHL; as he has played a total of 120 games. 45 game played with the Lincoln Stars and 85 with the Des Moines Buccaneers.
Kocsis made his USHL debut on March 16th, 2021 with Lincoln after playing the majority of the 2020-21 season with the North Jersey Avalanche 16U AAA team. The Stars fell to the Sioux Falls Stampede by a score of 8-4 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on his debut night, but it only took him two and a half periods of play to notch his first point. As he picked up a secondary assist on a third period goal scored by Yu Sato.
In his first full-time season (2021-22), the Providence commit tallied 12 total points (6G-6A-12P), skating in 39 games with Lincoln and 18 with Des Moines after being traded in the later part of the season.
Last season (2022-23), the 5-foot-11, 171 pound forward was a top-five point-getter for the Buccaneers, averaging nearly 0.5 point per game through 53 games played. Good for 24 total points (10G-14A-24P). Kocsis played a key role in the Bucs making their way into the final western conference playoff spot for a Clark Cup Playoff appearance for the first time since 2019, where they ended up falling to the Lincoln Stars on the road during the opening round.
On the current 2023-24 season, Kocsis has played in four games and is still on the lookout for his first point of the year.
Nehmens (2007 - Affiliate Defenseman), was drafted by the Omaha Lancers 92nd overall in the 7th round of the 2023 Phase I USHL Draft. The Chino Hills, California Native currently plays for Shattuck St. Mary's 16U AAA team, where he has been averaging over a point per game with 14 total points (2G-12A-14P) through 11 games played.
