
Lancers Acquire Samo Meritähti from Tri-City

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the acquirement of Defenseman, Samo Meritähti and a 2025 10th round, phase II draft pick from the Tri-City Storm, in exchange for a 2025 3rd round, phase II draft pick.
Meritähti (2003), of Seinajoki, Finland will be playing the majority of his second season in the USHL with the Lancers after skating in 57 games for the Tri-City Storm in the 2022-23 season, and four games in the Storm's current 2023-24 campaign.
The Finnish defenseman made with USHL debut back on September 22nd, 2022 at the 2022 Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Picking up secondary assist on a goal scored by Kieran Cebrian in a 4-1 victory over the Madison Capitols to kick off the season. Since, the Providence commit made the line chart in 61 total games with the Storm, collecting seven total points in the form of three goals and four assists.
The 6-foot-3, 192 pound blueliner played in the U20 SM-sarja league in Finland prior to his USHL experience, where he most recently racked up 25 points in 40 games played (8G-17A-25P), while also being +4 on the year.
Meritähti is set to make his debut in a Lancers uniform on Friday, October 13th, 2023 in Dubuque to take on the Fighting Saints.
