Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors announced today that LW Mark Derlago has been released from his Professional Try-Out Contract (PTO) by the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League so that he may rejoin the Condors in their quest for the playoffs. The Condors host pivotal games this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Monday at Rabobank Arena.
Derlago, 22, was leading the Condors in goals at the time of his signing with Manitoba last week (C Tim Konsorada has since tied his mark for the team lead). He has 32 goals on the season, good for third among all first-year players in the ECHL, and added 15 assists for 47 points.
His stint in the AHL was successful, finishing his tour with five points (2g-3a) in four games, recording at least one point in each of his appearances. He scored his first two AHL goals on Tuesday night, a victory on the road against the Lake Erie Monsters. Manitoba has won 10 consecutive hockey games and are third overall in the Western Conference.
"We're very appreciative of (Moose General Manager) Craig Heisinger, for his understanding and doing this to help us make the playoffs," said Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. "We're always happy to help them out and will do so again in the future, but having Mark is imperative for our playoff push. He did everything that was asked of him and more, and I won't be surprised if he's a full-time American Hockey League player in the future."
Ex-Condor Taylor called up to the NHL
The Los Angeles Kings today recalled G Danny Taylor from Manchester (N.H.) in the American Hockey League. Taylor had a record of 7-7-2 in 17 appearances for the Condors in 2006-07, and has spent the majority of this season with Manchester. There he was named the AHL Goaltender of the Month in January and has a record of 13-5-2 with four shutouts in 23 games on the season. The Kings play host to the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at Staples Center.
