Derenne's Walk-Off Double Caps Lakewood Rally, 7-6

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- With the trade of Jonathan Villar to Houston in the Roy Oswalt deal, Keoni DeRenne stepped in at short for Thursday night's game against the West Virginia Power.
DeRenne responded in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run double to left to lead Lakewood (22-12) to their twelfth walk-off win of the season, 7-6.
The BlueClaws trailed 6-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but rallied for the last seven runs of the game.
Alan Schoenberger started the ninth against reliever Eliecer Navarro (1-2) with an infield single. He then advanced to third after an errant throw to second by third baseman Elevys Gonzalez on a Jiwan James bunt made it into center, setting the stage for DeRenne's heroics.
West Virginia (14-20) started the scoring by jumping all over Lakewood starter Colby Shreve in the fourth. David Rubenstein doubled in the first run of the game, and Rogelio Noris and Elevys Gonzalez singled in two more to make it 3-0 Power.
West Virginia added two runs in the fifth, as Jarek Cunningham hit his tenth homer of the season, a two-run blast to left to push the lead to 5-0. It was Cunningham's second two-run shot in as many days.
Evan Chambers drew his league leading 80th walk of the season in the sixth with the bases loaded to build the Power's lead to six.
It was all Lakewood from there on out, as the Claws mounted a five-run rally in the sixth. Jiwan James reached with one out on a fielding error by first baseman Aaron Baker, and DeRenne drew a walk, ending starter Phillip Irwin's night.
Irwin went 5 1/3 innings, letting up two runs (one earned) and striking out nine.
After DeRenne's walk, Leandro Castro doubled in a run, and Jonathan Singleton singled in two more before being caught in a rundown trying to advance to second on the throw.
Trailing by three with two outs, Sebastian Valle hit a stand-up triple to deep center, and scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-4. Michael Dabbs followed up with a solo shot to right center, his first as a BlueClaw, to bring Lakewood within a run.
Dabbs went 2-for-4 to bump his average to .350 since joining the team. He has reached in all ten games since being promoted form Williamsport.
Ebelin Lugo (5-1) threw a 1-2-3 ninth for the win.
Friday night at 7:05 pm RHP Jonathan Pettibone (3-5, 4.08) will go up against Power RHP Bret Lorin (1-0, 2.89).
