Denver's Weems Re-Assigned To D-League Affiliate Colorado 14ers

NEW YORK, March 6, 2009 - The Denver Nuggets today re-assigned rookie Sonny Weems to the team's NBA Development League affiliate Colorado 14ers. Weems' is the 27th assignment of the 2008-09 season.

Weems, a 6-6 guard, who has appeared in 10 games for the Nuggets this season returns to the 14ers having spent 10 games with the team from Dec. 10, 2008 - Jan.6, 2009. During his first stint in Colorado he averaged 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Originally selected by the Chicago Bulls in the second round (39th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, Weems was traded to the Nuggets on Draft night. A four-year contributor at Arkansas, Weems averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists en route to being named First Team All-SEC by the league's coaches during his senior season.

Weems will join the 14ers (22-10) in Colorado this afternoon and is expected to be available on Sunday, March 8 when the team faces the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on the road.
