Hagerstown, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds won on Monday evening by a final score of 9-5 to earn a series split in Hagerstown. Delmarva (44-37, 6-6) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first three innings and held on for the victory.

Lucas Herbst started the game off right with a leadoff home run. Later in the inning, Jared Breen smacked a two-out two-run double to dead center to give Delmarva a 3-0 lead. In the third inning, the Shorebirds pushed their advantage to 6-0 with a two-out rally. Breen delivered another RBI base hit, and Anthony Vega hammered a wall-banging double to score two more runs.

Luc Rennie was solid in the start for Delmarva, though his only misstep came in the third inning. The Shorebirds' starter loaded the bases with two walks and a single, and Spencer Kieboom banged a bases-clearing double to cut Delmarva's lead in half.

The game tightened in the eighth inning as Hagerstown rallied back. Three straight singles off Williams Louico loaded the bases for the Suns. However, Louico induced a rally-killing double play to help minimize the damage and escape with the lead intact.

Delmarva scored twice in the ninth for more cushion. Drew Dosch sliced an RBI single, and Chance Sisco collected an RBI as well. Leading 9-5, Dylan Rheault worked a perfect ninth inning to seal the victory.

Rennie tossed a quality start to earn his third win of the season. Andrew Cooper struggled in the spot start for Hagerstown, giving up six runs on eight hits in just four innings.

The Shorebirds now travel to Kannapolis for a three-game series with the Intimidators. Left-hander Mitch Horacek (4-6, 2.99) starts the opener against another southpaw Andre Wheeler (0-2, 3.57). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
