Connecticut Defenders News Release

BOWIE, MD- Despite getting on the board first in the affair, the Defenders were blown out by the Baysox in the second game of the series, 7-1.

Connecticut scored first as in the top of the first inning Travis Ishikawa drove in Antoan Richardson from third base as the Defenders took a 1-0 advantage.

Bowie couldn't find their stroke until the bottom of the fourth inning as they touched up the Defs for five runs on four base hits. The two-run triple off the bat of Kennard Jones capped off the marathon of the inning as the Baysox took a commanding 5-1 lead.

Bowie would add another two runs in the sixth inning as Ronnie Ray gave up four consecutive singles. The short rally was finished off by Lou Montanez who plated Jones on a fielder's choice to give the Sox a 7-1 advantage.

The Baysox set a franchise record as they won their eleventh home game in a row. Bowie started off the 2008 season losing their first five, but have came on strong lately as they sit just two games out of first place.

The Defenders will try and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Sox on Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm. The AT&T Pre-Game show will begin at 1:50pm and the game can be heard on the Defender's Radio Network or nationwide at ctdefenders.com.
