New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - Ryan Khoury had two hits and three RBI to lead Portland to a 6-2 win in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader at New Britain Stadium.

For the Rock Cats, Jason Miller took the mound in a spot start for just his second start ever in a Rock Cats' uniform. Miller (1-1, 3.94) looked quite comfortable as he retired the first three batters he faced. In the second, he ran into a bit of trouble. He walked leadoff batter Zachary Daeges. Catcher Drew Butera threw Daeges out at second on an attempted steal. Andrew Pickney then doubled and scored on a single by Khoury for a 1-0 Portland lead.

Khoury added a two-run double for the Sea Dogs in the fourth inning, which knocked Miller out of the game. Miller allowed four runs on three hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out five.

Brock Peterson hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for the Rock Cats. Aaron Bates countered with a two-run homer for the Sea Dogs in the fifth.

Thomas Hottovy (1-0, 3.60) scattered four hits - with the home run being the only two runs he allowed - over five innings.
